Enables “any-to-any” network connectivity, integrated signaling and increased capacity for service provider networks to handle more subscribers and more calls per second
San Jose, CA - March 1, 2011 - Dialogic Inc. (NASDAQ: DLGC), a leading provider of communications technologies that power advanced networks, today launched its next generation Dialogic® BorderNetTM 2020 Integrated Multimedia Gateway. With 2.6 times the session capacity of the previous generation Dialogic® IMG 1010 Integrated Media Gateway, the BorderNet 2020 IMG can provide new revenue opportunities for service providers and mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) through additional capacity for more subscribers and a variety of connectivity, signaling and security options. The BorderNet 2020 IMG is well suited for building out VoIP infrastructure and enabling service providers to accelerate time to market for mobile value-added services, or cloud-based services, including contact centers and unified communications.
Networks using a BorderNet 2020 IMG have achieved call rates ranging from 36 to 52 calls per second when connecting mobile or fixed line subscribers to mobile VAS and cloud-based services. Because the BorderNet 2020 IMG can convert traffic from both TDM-to-IP and IP-to-IP, it also provides value for service providers during the TDM to IP migration process. For networks that are still transitioning, service providers may save on capital expenses once the migration to pure-IP is complete by shifting to all-IP operations on the platform.
The BorderNet 2020 IMG enables service providers to address a wide range of internetworking and security objectives through its integration of leading media gateway and session border controller (SBC) functions. These SBC functions include secure SIP session control and mediation, media transcoding, traffic management and topology hiding. Moreover, the enhanced VoIP density of up to 2,016 channels and integrated signaling for the BorderNet 2020 IMG are packaged in a compact 1U form factor, which enables significantly reduced capital and operating expenses as compared to prior generation gateways. The purpose-built BorderNet 2020 IMG also reduces power requirements 35 to 45 percent per gateway channel as compared to the IMG 1010, to support service providers' and call centers' energy-efficiency initiatives.
"We're pleased that Dialogic is extending the value of its gateway families by introducing the BorderNet 2020 IMG. We have had excellent experiences working with operators using the IMG 1010 and believe that the higher density and all-IP capabilities of the BorderNet 2020 IMG will offer excellent value to our customers," said Gurkan Ozturk, Executive Vice President, Global Sales & Marketing, Verscom Solutions.
"The BorderNet 2020 IMG from Dialogic is the latest entry in the race to extend media gateways into the high growth SBC/Border Element market," said Diane Myers, Directing Analyst, VoIP and IMS at Infonetics. "The BorderNet 2020 IMG addresses important SBC features such as signaling protocol normalization and interworking, and meets growing needs for integrated media transcoding. The combination of scalable capacity and reduced power requirements in a 1RU chassis is well suited to service providers seeking environmentally friendly products when building next generation networks."
The BorderNet 2020 IMG offers high density STM-1, OC-3 and multiple DS3 connectivity to PSTN networks in addition to Dual Gigabit Ethernet interfaces for separation of signaling, management and bearer traffic. The BorderNet 2020 IMG supports configuration via an Element Management System and features standards-based integration between SS7, SIP and other leading IP network protocols.
"We are excited to introduce the BorderNet 2020 IMG," said Harold Klett, General Manager of the Service Provider Market Group at Dialogic. "Building on our strong foundation of integrated gateways and IP border elements, we're now supporting next-generation services with higher densities - enabling networks to connect to rich multimedia solutions on mobile networks and in the cloud. With the newest member of the Dialogic® BorderNetTM product family, Dialogic continues its commitment to deliver a rich portfolio of IP security and connectivity solutions for service provider networks and the enterprise edge."
The BorderNet 2020 IMG was recently awarded an Internet Telephony Product of the Year Award for outstanding innovation.
